Time Capsule- Meyreia

Since 1977, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 have been floating in space, carrying two special records called Voyager Golden Records. These records have messages, sounds, and pictures meant to share Earth's culture with possible aliens. They want to show how diverse life and culture are on our planet.

There are 46 years between when these probes were launched but a lot has happened in the world since then.

With my artwork, I focused on the last 10 years because those are the years I remember. On the shoe, you can see moments from 2014 to 2024, each connected to a specific year.

- 2014: Germany beating Brazil 7-1 in the FIFA World Cup

- 2015: SpaceX landing a rocket back on Earth for the first time

- 2016: The release of Pokémon Go

- 2017: The international hit song "Despacito" coming out

- 2018: Canada becoming the second country to legalize cannabis

- 2019: The start of the Corona outbreak in Wuhan

- 2020: The first lockdown, when the world stopped

- 2021: Angela Merkel stepping down after 16 years as a leader

- 2022: The famous slap incident involving Will Smith

- 2023: Big advancements in artificial intelligence

- 2024: The impact of social media

This sneaker mixes together stories and culture, tied to the steps of our time, like a modern version of the Voyager Golden Records, keeping messages from our time for the future.
