Anne Bengard

Anne Bengard's work explores themes of connection, intimacy, and fetishisation. Through a sensual and often suspenseful visual language, she examines social norms, human relationships, and the mysteries of the subconscious. Symbolism, gesture, and surreal elements play a central role in her practice. Rather than offering fixed answers, her works invite viewers to ask questions and develop their own perspectives.

Anne Bengard was born in Leipzig, grew up in Berlin and England, and studied Performance Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Her experiences within London's art and fetish scenes shaped her understanding of consent, respect, and tolerance — values that continue to form the foundation of her work.

After training as a freediver in Thailand and travelling through Asia, she returned to Berlin to dedicate herself fully to painting. Her work combines influences from 1990s anime and manga, classical masters such as Caravaggio, and Pop Surrealism.
